Free Social Marketing Evenings

MDX-newMiddlesex University Business School in London is hosting a series of open evening lectures around Social Marketing. All the events are free, but you are requested to register your attendance in advance by emailing your name/organisation to s.dahl@mdx.ac.uk . Each lecture starts at 6pm and lasts for around 90 minutes, after which there will be some time to network with colleagues from the field.

Wednesday, 19 May
An Introduction to Social Marketing: Why? What? For whom?
This workshop offers an introduction to basic Social Marketing skills and tools, showing how marketing tools can be effectively used to change behaviour – for better health and societal benefit. It is intended for people who wish to have a basic overview of what Social Marketing is all about, and how it can be used in health care and beyond.

Wednesday, 23 June
Social Media & Social Marketing: Twitter for behaviour change!
Looking at how Social Media, and web 2.0 tools like blogs, facebook and twitter, can be used to communicate effectively, achieve behaviour change and support health & social marketing objectives, this workshop examines how Social Marketing can benefit from using new technologies. Intended for people who have a basic understanding of Social Marketing, the evening is a hands on workshop on how to do Social Marketing – the 2.0 way.

Wednesday, 21 July
Mind your language: Hard to reach communities & Social Marketing
Exploring health literacy, deprivation and working in a cultural diverse environment, this workshop shows how Social Marketing can be used in challenging scenarios to deliver effective behaviour change. Intended for people with a basic understanding of Social Marketing, the workshop will examine successful examples how to overcome barriers and help deliver successful Social Marketing campaigns in hard to reach communities.

In addition to these free lectures, please note that we also have a series of one day workshops later this year. The one day workshops can also be counted towards the Middlesex Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and MA in Health & Social Marketing. For more information on these, please see http://bit.ly/cd7fk7

CPD/PGCert/MA Health & Social Marketing Dates 2010

Here are details of the three upcoming Social Marketing workshops later in 2010 hosted by Middlesex University, London at the Hendon campus. The workshops can be taken individually – or can be counted towards a degree such as the Middlesex Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Health & Social Marketing or Master (MA) in Health & Social Marketing.

Each workshop will last one (Satur-)day, and each module can be booked separately or you can book all three workshops together.

Please note that after completing all three workshops, there is an optional assessment for the award of 30 credit points, which count as part of Middlesex University’s Postgraduate Certificate in Social Marketing, or our MA in Health & Social Marketing, the first in the UK.

For more information, please contact me – or call the administrator Lucio Versaggi on +44 20 8411 4747. The price for the three day CPD is likely to be around £400 per day if you choose not to take part in the assessment (i.e. you would get a certificate of attendance). If you want to take part in the assessment for the workshop, gain ECTS points, have additional tutorial support and library access etc then the cost for all three workshops is £1800. You can also take the Postgraduate Certificate in Social Marketing (PGCert) by completing an additional module for a total cost of £1860 (i.e. £60 more than one module). (Fees are 2009/10 fees, which may increase slightly in 2010)

New Three Part CPD in Social Marketing

MDX-new After the successful first run of the Social Marketing CPD workshop last February, there will be a new three part CPD programme in Social Marketing starting at Middlesex later this year. Each course will last one day (Saturday), and each course can be taken individually or you can take all three days as a whole. In addition, participants will have the chance to gain ECTS credit points for the course, which can be counted towards professional and academic qualifications, by completing appropriate assignments and projects associated with each session.
