Social Marketing Book available now
My latest (co-authored) book Social Marketing is being released tomorrow. In 14 chapters the book provides a critical analysis of the origins of social marketing as a concept and of the claims made by its supporters and detractors in order to highlight what social marketing can and cannot achieve. This is followed by a review of strategic issues that must be considered in developing social marketing programmes, including issues such as persuasion resistance, message relevance and message framing and, of course, intervention evaluation.
The book discusses the impact of cultural factors on health-related behaviours, ethical issues and attitudes as a key factor underlying behaviours. With a strong practical focus, we introduce concepts, theories and strategies and show how these can be used to help the development, testing and implementation of social marketing interventions.
Each chapter chapter includes several examples of successful campaigns, a case study, chapter review questions and further reading. The book can be used as a text book for social marketing classes – or indeed if you are a social marketers, it can be a useful reference book.
The book costs £36.99, but is currently available directly from Pearson with a discount of 20% at a price of £29.59

Oh, wow. Impressive. Congratulations – and I am dulling sharing this with my colleague working in social marketing.
I am really looking forward to reading this — but Pearson says ‘not available for purchase in Australia.’ I recognise the need to maximise the economic productivity of such works, given how little the authors get for their participation. But this is a crazily archaic system of copyright apportionment…
This is indeed slightly crazy… although strangely the book seems to be available in the US, another “barred” country, from Amazon (and I guess others). SO I wonder if it is just the Pearson online shop that is doing strange things… I shall ask the publisher!
I have seen the advance proofs from Pearons, we will be using this in one of our courses. Well done
I would like to buy it, next trip in UK, because Amazon don’t deliver in Romania!!!???? I am interested especially on Part 2, chapters 6, 7 and Part 3, chapters 14.
Congratulations!
Congrats Stephan. I teach digital marketing at Coventry Uni and have been looking for a good book on social media marketing. Will be asking Pearson for a evaluation copy soon.
Oops. Did not read the whole post. I assumed it was social media. Congrats anyway.
