Blogging to learn

After some procrastination I will finally start to use blogging as a tool for learning with my students in a post-graduate Advertising & Sales Promotion class from next semester. Blogger
As part of their course, the students will have to start blogging for credit (30% of their overall mark).
Last term, the same students were required to keep a critical thinking “portfolio” and reflective learning log for their Integrated Marketing module, and the results were absolutely fantastic.

Here are some resources I used to get started:

Personal Webpublishing as a Refective Conversational Tool for Self-Organized Learning
A paper on the use of blogging in learning
Weblogs In and Around the Classroom Resources on blogging in education
The Blogging Phenomenon: An Overview and Theoretical Consideration A paper on the theoretical background to blogging
Why Weblogs? Many good arguments to use blogs,… not only in education
Exploring the use of blogs as learning spaces in the higher education sector A paper looking specifically at the HE sector by J.B. Williams, J .Jacobs
Put another (B)Log on the Wire: Publishing Learning Logs as Weblogs Christian Wagner’s Teaching Tip from the Journal of Information Systems Education
Introducing disruptive technologies for learning: Personal Webpublishing and Weblogs A collection of abstracts looking at how to use blogs in education, by S Fiedler
